Siyethemba and Nonfundo visit the Specialists
Thursday was a busy day for hospital visits. Nonfundo had her appointment with the audiologist . Due to her age and communication difficulties she has been refered to a clinic in Durban where they will be able to do further tests to determine the extent of her hearing problems. Siyethemba had his first trip to the hospital, it was a long day for him and he saw lots of doctors but he was very patient and sang happily for most of the day. He has fluid on the brain and will need to go back to the hospital next month for an MRI scan to see how much damage there is and the appropriate treatment to take.

Senzo and his broken shoulder
Senzo’s carer took him to the day care centre and said that he’ d had a fall over the weekend and hurt his shoulder. We decided that it was best to take him to see a doctor to get him examined properly. At Richard’s Bay hospital it was suspected that it was just badly bruised, however an X-ray revealed a fracture. The staff at the hospital were amazing- they did not charge us for the consultation or the X-rays and the orthapedic surgeon who saw us gave an extremely generous donation of R5000, which will help the children immensely.

Health Needs
Today was a great day with the kids - with sponsorship we were able to give all the children a course of de-worming medication which will protect them from contracting worms for the next 6 months. This vital medicine will enable the children, many of whom have weak immune systems, to be able to absorb the essential minerals and vitamins their bodies need to help them stay as healthy as possible. Along with this donation the children also recieved sweets and colouring books which they enjoyed much more than the medicine! We had a fundraiser in the evening with raffles and games - it was a great night and we had a lot fun.
